The Lockyer Valley Regional Council was created at midnight on the 14th March 2008 as a result of the amalgamation of the Gatton and Laidley Shire Councils.
This historical event, in bringing two neighbouring Shire's located in the Lockyer Valley, together provides a strong wealth of resources & cultural unity that will allow the region to take advantage of the significant growth and will provide opportunities to achieve the progress necessary towards building a better, sustainable future.
Both Shire's have a wealth of Agricultural, Horticultural and Educational history that will remain the essence of the new Council.
Reflections from our history, has the capacity to provide a clear vision to move forward with balanced view to explore sustainable development to build upon our unique rural lifestyle in the Lockyer Valley - our Valley of Variety.

Lockyer Valley Seniors Week
“The Time of Your Life”
Lockyer Valley Regional Council in conjunction with the COTA Seniors and the National Seniors present to you Senior Citizens Week 2008. Ipswich Community Aid are organising the Laidley expo.
Saturday August 23 – 7am
Ladies Breakfast at Ropeley Lutheran Church. Gold coin donation for chaplaincy.
Saturday August 23 – 11am
Picnic in the Park at the Laidley Lions Park, Narda Lagoon. Free BBQ lunch for seniors and their families provided by Lockyer Valley Regional Council. Bring Grandma and a chair. Transport available (see below).
Tuesday August 26 – 9.30am
Gatton Senior’s Luncheon at the Gatton Shire Hall. Morning tea and lucky door prizes. Roast luncheon provided by the Lockyer Valley Regional Council. Entertainment by Ron King and friends. Transport available (see below).
Wednesday August 27 – 9.30am
Games Day at the Senior Citizens Centre. Enjoy a fun morning playing Hoy, Bowls or Cards. Lots of prizes and laughter guaranteed. Bring a plate.
Thursday August 28 – 11am
BBQ with the Bikies at Gatton Lake Apex BBQ Shelter. Get on a Harley for a ride or just have your photo taken. Sausage sizzle provided by LVRC.
Saturday August 30 - 1pm
Concert for Seniors by Seniors at Gatton Senior Citizens Centre. A variety of local entertainment sure to delight. Bring a plate for afternoon tea.
Sunday August 31 – 3.30pm
Combined Churches Family Service at Laidley Cultural Centre. An opportunity for the whole family to join together. Afternoon tea.
Laidley pick up service is available for Saturday August 23. Please register with Cliff Rowe on (07) 5465 1381.
Gatton pick-up service is available for Tuesday August 26. Please register with Lockyer Blue Care on (07) 5462 1834.

Gatton Shire Council and Laidley Shire Council have been amalgamated as of the 15th March 2008.
As you can appreciate there is a lot of work to be done to combine services from both shires to the New Lockyer Valley Regional Council. As with any change there is a period of transition, as such this site will be undergoing some major changes while this transition of services is occuring.
In the short term you may find links to information from either Laidley or Gatton or both, please be patient. If you have any concerns about the legitimacy of the information provided on this site please contact either council office directly, Staff at either office will be only too happy to assist with your enquiry.

 Water Restrictions
